Virtual Co-Location via Xen

This entire site, including Wordpress, PHP, MySQL, Apache2 and everything else in a basic CentOS4.2 install runs on a virutalized Linux machine as provided by http://www.unixshell.com. This is running on their “96″ packages that costs around $11.50/month, plus $1/month extra for an additional IP. Their most basic package is $8.50/month which I managed to get everything you see here on. (I had to upgrade to support multiple instances of some java-based VoIP software I run to support the amateur radio Echolink project.) It’s really amazing how much I’ve been able to put on this virtualized machine, and I have full root access to it. If you’re a Linux buff who can’t justify spending the money for a physical co-located server, this is an ideal option! Unixshell.com is located in Atlanta, GA on plenty of connectivity.

UPDATE: 26 NOV 2007 - I’ve moved the entire site the Dallas-based Virtuozzo host, Tektonic. While they don’t provide true virtualization ala Xen or KVM, they use a Sun-style system partitioning system called Virtuozzo and I still get full root access to a CentOS 5 “machine”. Response time and reliability so far has been excellent.
